Today I wanted to share a few of my reflections on the value of ESD Global Training and the Violence Prevention Education Conference after attending both the ESD Global Level 1 Training and VPEC 2020 in Jerusalem at the El HaLev Center.
~ Sarah McArthur, VPEC 2021 Manager
Their connection to each other and to the global movement was inspiring.
1.I could see and feel the deep relationships between those who have been part of past trainings and continue to be involved in the growth of this global movement.
Their connection to each other and to the global movement was inspiring.
2. The ESD Global instructor training provided an opportunity for participants from all over the world to bring change to their communities and become part of an international ESD community.
3. Training with international communities personally allowed me to reflect on how expansive the need for violence prevention is, how passionate people are to bring solutions to their communities, and required me to expand my own understanding of gender-based violence from different global perspectives.
It was conversations that highlighted the desire to collaborate to bring global attention to gender-based violence. To me, these conversations are one of the profound ways change happens.
4. During VPEC 2020, the conversation about violence prevention was not only the focus of the speakers and the teachers of the conference. It was the focus of conversations between participants of the ESD Global training and VPEC speakers. It was the focus of conversations between international participants and government officials representing global embassies in Jerusalem. It was conversations between training cohorts and wisdom given from training masters. It was the inspiration of sharing our stories with one another.
It was conversations that highlighted the desire to collaborate to bring global attention to gender-based violence. To me, these conversations are one of the profound ways change happens.
I hope you will join in on this global conversation!
