Welcome to the 2023 Violence Prevention Education Conference! We're thrilled to invite you to this annual event that brings together individuals and organizations dedicated to creating a safer future. At VPEC, we believe in the power of storytelling and community to make violence prevention education accessible to all.

Our conference is a collaborative space where experts from around the world in the fields of education, psychology, social work, and Empowerment Self Defense come together. Representing global communities, these experts bring diverse perspectives and insights.

After the success of our virtual events in 2021 and 2022, we are excited to announce that this year's conference is a hybrid experience! Join us in person at the ESD Global Summer Experiences at Camp Echo or connect with us online through Whova. Whether you're a returning participant or a virtual friend, we can't wait to connect with you and build collaborative connections.

At VPEC, we're passionate about fostering a cultural shift towards a safer future. Through captivating speakers, interactive workshops, and innovative platforms, we'll equip you with the tools and knowledge to make a real impact in your communities.

As we find ourselves in accelerated growth and expansion, the sheer momentum of our progress often makes it hard to look back at the incredible accomplishments we've already achieved. This year's conference is an opportunity to slow down, look back in appreciation of the journey so far, and marvel at the collective and individual influence ESD has had in the world.

VPEC 2023 serves as more than just a conference – it is a moment of shared reflection, a global gathering of hearts and minds committed to violence prevention. It is a space to celebrate our victories, no matter how big or small, to share in the challenges that we've faced, and to learn from each other's experiences. By coming together, we gain the opportunity to strengthen our bonds, broaden our perspectives, and ignite the spark of collective change. Through this collaboration and mutual support, we can continue to innovate, adapt, and move forward in our mission. Let us take this chance to honor our progress, appreciate our present and envision our future together. Let's commemorate our journey, share our stories, and discover how we can collaborate to shape a safer future for everyone.

Join us at the 2023 VPEC and let's shape a safer tomorrow. We are better together!

What if our systems of education were about learning human rights and how to live together in safety and mutual growth?

What if we taught all people that they have the right to defend themselves from harm?

What if we taught people that it is their right to be treated with dignity and that everyone should treat them with respect?

Even deeper, what if we taught people to respect themselves enough to know that they are worth fighting for and know that they have the ability to respond and to stand up to various types of violence?

The conference will be dedicated to discovering methods that give people the skills and tools they need to navigate the world from a safe and empowered place.

Come be part of the change we need for a better, brighter, and safer future.

Together, we can and we will #FlipTheScript

on violence!

Circles Divider.jpg

So far, much of the discourse on violence has been largely about secondary prevention that involves removing victims from abusive environments and providing treatment and assistance after the fact.

While secondary prevention is extremely important, we wholeheartedly believe that the time has come to emphasize primary prevention initiatives that will tackle our current culture of violence and create a safer world for all.

VPEC is the opportunity to create the cultural shift we so greatly need.

Safety is a human right, and until we address it for everyone, things will not change enough for all of us."
